My host dad gives all of the exchange students that stay there Spanish names, and mine is Dolores (in Spanish, pronounced "doe-lore-A´s", and yes, I am terible at phoneticly spelling things). In means sorrowful. In the United States it is fairly old, has fallen into disuse, and has a slightly negative connotation. I asked why he gave me that name, and said that to me it didn´t seem like a good thing, but he assured me that it was, and that people in Spain who have that name have strong characters, are independent, and are always the lead role in movies and books, and never the best friend. So, there you go.

I have to say that is incredibly sweet of him, especially what he said about your name. Your host family sounds amazing.
I have an Aunt Dolores (technically a great aunt actually). There are Doloreses everywhere.
Anyways, I hope you keep having fun and ignore the fact that I wrote this in English. People will be able to understand me now. *gasp*
